Européens, ils le sont, ces musiciens originaires des meilleurs orchestres du vieux continent qui, depuis vingt neuf ans – leur premier concert eut lieu le 20 septembre 1989 -, se réunissent régulièrement à Luxembourg pour des répétitions, des concerts et des enregistrements, et qui régulièrement aussi partent en tournée.

Au Luxembourg, ils offrent chaque saison à leur fidèle public leurs deux cycles de concerts du lundi à la Philharmonie. Ils ont accompagnés les solistes les plus renommés et ont enchanté le public et la critique dans les principaux centres musicaux européens.

Les Solistes Européens, Luxembourg ont réalisé plus de 120 CD, entre autres chez Sony Classical, chez CHANDOS Records, Rubicon et Naxos.

Sur initiative du Ministère de la Culture, ils créent chaque saison une œuvre commandée à un compositeur de chez nous : Roland Wiltgen (2011), Ivan Boumans (2012), Marco Pütz (2013 et 2014), Jeannot Sanavia (2015), Luc Grethen (2016), Tatsiana Zelianko (2017) et Roland Wiltgen (2018). Depuis l’arrivée de Christoph König, ils ont élargi leur domaine à des compositeurs contemporains.

Soucieux également de promouvoir l’avenir de la musique, les SEL organisent chaque saison des concerts qui mettent en valeur de jeunes talents prometteurs, aussi bien luxembourgeois qu’étrangers, notamment avec le cycle Camerata à la Philharmonie.

Cet orchestre, dont les activités sont soutenues par le Ministère de la Culture et la Ville de Luxembourg, ainsi que de nombreux sponsors, est un des pôles majeurs de la vie musicale luxembourgeoise.

Diese Musiker aus vielen europäischen Ländern und Orchestern spielen seit nunmehr 29 Jahren, am 20. September 1989 fand das erste Konzert statt, regelmäßig gemeinsam bei Konzerten und Aufnahmen in Luxemburg. Sie gehen auch regelmäßig auf Tournee.

In Luxemburgs neuer Philharmonie geben sie in jeder Saison zwei Konzertzyklen. Die Musiker haben bereits namhafte Solisten begleitet und sind in den großen Konzerthallen Europas aufgetreten. Im Mai 2004 haben sie bei der UNO in New York konzertiert, um die Erweiterung der EU feierlich zu begehen.

Sie haben mehr als 120 CDs, unter anderem die bei Sony Classical, Rubicon, Naxos und bei CHANDOS Records aufgenommen.

Sie haben ein großes Repertoire, das auch Werke zeitgenössischer Komponisten umfasst.

In jeder Saison organisieren die SEL Konzerte zur Nachwuchsförderung unter dem Motto « From one generation to the other ».

Dieses Orchester, dessen Aktivitäten vom Ministerium für Kultur, der Stadt Luxemburg, dem Fonds Culturel National, und zahlreichen Mäzenen unterstützt werden, ist somit zweifellos einer der wesentlichen Pole des luxemburgischen Musiklebens.

These musicians are Europeans from the best orchestras of the old continent who have been meeting regularly in Luxembourg for more than 29 years – their first concert was on 20 September 1989 – for recitals, concerts and recordings. They also tour around Europe on a regular basis.

Each season in Luxembourg, they offer their faithful public regular concerts on Monday evenings in the Philharmonie. They have accompanied the most renowned soloists and captivated both audiences and critics in the major European musical centres. In May 2004, they performed at the UN in New York on the occasion of the EU enlargment.

The SEL have recorded more than 120 CDs (SEL Classics, Sony Classical, Rubicon, Naxos and Chandos).

They have a vast repertoire. For the past years, they have been playing at each annual opening concert a work commissioned by the Ministry of Culture: Ivan Boumans (2012), Marco Pütz (2013), Marco Pütz (2014), Jeannot Sanavia (2015), Luc Grethen (2016), Tatsiana Zelianko (2017) and Roland Wiltgen (2018).

Eager to promote the future of music, each season the Solistes Européens, Luxembourg organize concerts for young talents, both from Luxembourg and abroad.

This orchestra, whose activities are supported by the Ministry of Culture and the City of Luxembourg, as well as by numerous corporate sponsors, is one of the main attractions of Luxembourg’s musical offering.
